REFLECTIONS ON
THE WATER

Engaging with flowers and creating new works inspired by timeless art brings immense joy. Here, I introduce three arrangements inspired by classical pieces centered on the theme of "water"—each stirring the heart with poetic beauty.

・・・

1. Reflets dans l'eau (Reflections on the Water)
Composed by Claude Debussy in 1905, this piece musically captures the gentle movement of light across a water’s surface. Its painterly elegance inspired an arrangement featuring hydrangeas—named after the Greek word for "water vessel."

The blooms' shifting hues and luminous gradations express the sparkling, joyful play of water as it reflects the sunlight.

JEUX D'EAU

2. Jeux d'eau (Water Games)

Written by Maurice Ravel in 1901, "Jeux d'eau" explores the radiance and delicacy of water as it interacts with sunlight. The piece begins with a poetic quote: "The river god, laughing as the water tickles him."

This lively spirit is captured through the elegant curves of Solomon's Seal and sweet peas, expressing water's playful shimmer. The fleeting, ever-changing beauty of water is further conveyed through delphiniums and roses, each bloom containing delicate color gradations.

LES JEUX
D'EAUX A LA VILLA D'ESTE

3. Les Jeux d'eaux à la Villa d'Este (The Fountains of the Villa d'Este)

Composed by Franz Liszt in 1877, this piece served as a precursor to impressionist music. Liszt, once a dazzling virtuoso admired for his charisma and brilliance, later became a cleric. This composition is among the works that reflect his inner spiritual search.

Liszt famously said, "Throw your spear as far as possible into the infinite kingdom of the future."

In this arrangement, hydrangeas express the eternal, majestic flow of water as the source of life. Delphiniums evoke the brilliance of a soul soaring into the future. The arrangement becomes a tribute to the beauty of Liszt’s spirit, destined to shine across time.

These floral compositions, inspired by the poetic language of music and the essence of water, celebrate the timeless beauty that continues to flow across boundaries, stirring the soul and guiding creativity into the future.
